IS MAGNUM suitable for my Off-Road Tyres?
MAGNUM is designed for off road tyres and is ideal for the 4X4 enthusiast.
The constant changing of road conditions and unexpected changes to your tyres
(such as losing chunks of rubber on the tracks) can cause unexpected delays
and timely rebalancing of lead weights. With MAGNUM, the tiny microbeads reposition
themselves to rebalance automatically, regardless of the changes in terrain
or tyre condition.
More importantly, MAGNUM provides a superior drive TO and FROM the off road
tracks. MAGNUM can reduce vibrations on the highway even if your tyres are mud
packed, and you won’t have to get your tyres rebalanced upon returning
home if tread chunks have been lost on the track.
What causes tyre and wheel vibrations?
Vibrations can be caused by weight variations inside the tyre and eccentricity
of the tyre's diameter. Brands of tyres can be different - some are better than
others, but all contain weight and dimensional variations.
More technically, vibrations are caused by radial and lateral force variation.
Force variation being the result of tyre/wheel, brake drum/rotor inconsistencies.
Rotating axle end components and variables in operating conditions cause vibrations
as the tyre makes contact with the road surface under load. Radial and lateral
force variation is impacted when the tyre meets and leaves the road surface,
eventually wearing down your tyre tread. There are so many different causes
of force variation that it's virtually inevitable.
Do I use lead weights with MAGNUM?
The answer to this is NO. MAGNUM’s unique balancing power means that lead weights are no longer required.
What makes MAGNUM more economical than lead weights?
Once inserted, MAGNUM will continue to work for the life of the tyre. No longer will you need to be concerned about losing lead weights off your rims or having to get the tyres rebalanced after a weekend away 4WDing.
Balanced tyres provide less wear on expensive steering and suspension components and unlike lead weights, MAGNUM is active and works continuously to keep the tyre balanced.
Is MAGNUM the answer to all of my problems?
Remember that MAGNUM is a tyre balancing compound that is designed to reduce vibrations. MAGNUM cannot fix alignment problems nor can it balance a tyre that is out of round or has excessive run-out.
Should I still get a wheel alignment if I have used MAGNUM?
YES. MAGNUM is not a substitute for a wheel alignment. Just as you would expect to align your wheels when using lead weights, so too with MAGNUM.
What else is required for proper installation of MAGNUM?
Every packet of MAGNUM comes with a filtered valve core & identification ring. The filtered valve core is designed to avoid the chance of MAGNUM clogging the valves causing the possibility of an air leak, while the identification ring notifies others of the presence of MAGNUM.
Will MAGNUM clog my valves whilst airing down?
A filtered valve core is provided with each packet of MAGNUM. This should be used to prevent any particles entering the valve core. However, the time it takes to air down can be increased as some microbeads may attach to the screen mesh in the filtered valve core. Injecting some air into the tyres to clean the screen mesh on the filtered valve core prior to airing down will eliminate this problem. Tyre deflating devices can be used safely.
Will moisture in my tyres clump MAGNUM?
The dessicant in MAGNUM will ensure that the MAGNUM in your tyres remains dry and free-flowing allowing it to perform its job satisfactorily.
How many bags do I need per tyre?
1 bag per tyre of MAGNUM is all that is needed. Bag sizes vary depending on
your tyre/wheel combination.
